Live and Die by Katerina423 Live and Die by Katerina423
.......

I hung out the window of our car as we were driving around in SoCal and snapped a ton of shots. The palm trees... i loved the palm trees everywhere. It just made the whole region FEEL like a vacation spot :)
This'll prolly not be a lot of ppl's cup of tea.. but I love this shot. No photoshop work except a digital bi-color filter (the sky actually was perfectly blue, the filter just popped it a bit) :)

When my boyfriend and I were moving cross country, I was struck dumb as soon as we got into California. We crossed the Cali border in early March and we crossed it downsouth, nearer to Barstow. It went from desert yellows, browns, and greys to GREEN and full of textures I've only ever seen in pictures. As we traveled up I-5 than further into SoCal towards the coast I took pictures from the windows and continued to be further awestruck. The Palm trees were just as you described them. We stopped in Santa Barbara where I HAD to go wade into the ocean. I saw starfish and sea urchins, and a shark carcass. Things I've only seen in pictures or aquariums.I still smile about the palm trees after a year here in SJ. I still ogle at the hills. We went up to Castle Rock last fall and they had to drag me off the trail to go home because I was enjoying every moment of that quick little hike.
I love cali. I'm glad I moved. SoCal and NorCal are different in textures, both social and physical, but its an adventure to live here.

I know what you mean... I went to SoCal for the first time a couple years ago and I was completely and totally charmed

We actually just moved out of san jose... well.. almost a year ago now. But I have to say... I'd love to get out of california. It's just too damned expensive to live here! Unfortunately, i haven't found any other state i rather go to :giggle: so i guess that says something :D

I can't imagine leaving California now. The midwest is so grey and so monotone. And the people there are alot less...understanding (?). Tennessee was a trip. Won't go to the south for sure. I would probably be okay in the mountains, I like the open air but being out of reach of everything is less than ideal.

I don't know why, but I really like the turn signal in this shot. The angle of the photo makes me respond to the command of the arrow like, "Wait, where?"

I'm a huge fan of dutch angle shots. Props to you for using the digital bi-color filter, too. :highfive: I almost thought you used an ND-grad filter on the lens. What rich color.

ah, I miss my palmtrees. Sadly, the only pic I have of them are some along the road to Camp Pendleton, down in Oceanside.
