I hung out the window of our car as we were driving around in SoCal and snapped a ton of shots. The palm trees... i loved the palm trees everywhere. It just made the whole region FEEL like a vacation spot :)
This'll prolly not be a lot of ppl's cup of tea.. but I love this shot. No photoshop work except a digital bi-color filter (the sky actually was perfectly blue, the filter just popped it a bit) :)

When my boyfriend and I were moving cross country, I was struck dumb as soon as we got into California. We crossed the Cali border in early March and we crossed it downsouth, nearer to Barstow. It went from desert yellows, browns, and greys to GREEN and full of textures I've only ever seen in pictures. As we traveled up I-5 than further into SoCal towards the coast I took pictures from the windows and continued to be further awestruck. The Palm trees were just as you described them. We stopped in Santa Barbara where I HAD to go wade into the ocean. I saw starfish and sea urchins, and a shark carcass. Things I've only seen in pictures or aquariums.I still smile about the palm trees after a year here in SJ. I still ogle at the hills. We went up to Castle Rock last fall and they had to drag me off the trail to go home because I was enjoying every moment of that quick little hike.
I love cali. I'm glad I moved. SoCal and NorCal are different in textures, both social and physical, but its an adventure to live here.
